H&R TOPPER JR. MODEL 098 front site question

I recently acquired a 20 gauge topper model and upon cleaning the barrel I noticed the front site is tapped all the way through the barrel and the bottom of the site is protruding into the barrel. It appears to have the original brass front site installed. It also looks to have been shot several times like this looking at the inside of the end of the barrel. Can this be fixed? Thanks in advance.

Judicious and careful work with a Dremel and an abrasive wheel
So don’t have to worry about filling the hole just file down the site so it doesn’t protrude?
Try removing the sight and filing the base down a little. If you mar the sight up a little it will not affect it's usage. Working on the sight while installed in the barrel will most likely result in scratches in the bore. While that should not affect the shot pattern it is unsightly. Good luck.
Please post the results of your fix so we can all learn something.
Not going to hurt anything as it is. If it ain't broke. Don't fix it.
Thanks for the responses. Dunbar I was worried what might happen if a slug was ever shot.
Just leave it in there and rattail file it best you can to be even. That was you won't mess up threads if there is an issue. You are NOT going to hurt the bore on a Topper to be ineffective.
