the space ship that astronauts were trapped in?? They survive? They make it back?
Comments
They are waiting for NASA to get Musk to send one of his ships to bring them back. Boeing can't do it.
Joe, isn't it interesting that an event that might embarrass the powers in Washington is not being reported on??
I also have wondered about this.
Last story I saw says they are going to send a Space X ship to get them in December.
I think it is Boeing that should be embarassed. At least the doors didn't fall off getting them there.
Good gosh!!!! How are they able to survive?? Air,Food, water, restroom, cleanse?? C
Saw something yesterday I think, but didn't read it, headline was something like stranded astronauts might not get home until 2025… Mean while the dems are kamala's the greatest thing since sliced bread and Tim Waltz is a war hero… stay tuned for more of our total lies.
Yep. Might have to call Elon….

The astronauts are less important than not embarrassing her any more than she embarrasses herself.

And,
Some question thier mental status to go on that journey to be gin with. But seriously what's thier mental health going to be if, when they make it back?
I can't help but think that those astronauts won't want to leave the ground ever again, even in an elevator. We will never know the truth though. Sure am glad that I don't have any Boeing stock.
She has likely spent less time at that council than she has at the southern border.
It's gonna take AAA a while to get there.
I read they are going to bring the craft back down with out the crew
And they will be waiting on the next mission late August? They will get new space suits conpatable with the space stations then return to earth on the scheduled return of that flight
Good thing astronauts are special in there abiliries to face scuch chwllenges most people would go nuts I know I would
But then again they have zero choice
Their day original trip is going to end up being 8 months.
It has been widely reported; but not apparently by news sources that some here watch.
NASA has decided to bring the Boeing Starliner back empty and return the two crew with the regular Crew rotation the will launch Sept 24. They will come down in February. In the meantime, extra food, clothing and other supplies are being sent up. Also two SpaceX space suits for them to wear on the trip home. Boeing suits are incompatible with the SpaceX vehicle.
It's a lot more complicated than that, but those are the basics. While up there, they are helping conduct regular Station maintenance and experiments. No thumb twiddling.
Meanwhile, SpaceX is also launching the Polaris Dawn mission, a private crewed flight that will feature many groundbreaking - and dangerous - firsts. It is not a government mission, but isn't a "space tourist" flight either. Launch very early Wednesday morning.

We have not learned a lot.
One would think that NASA would insist upon as much interchangeability as possible. With the CO2 scrubber mismatch issue on Apollo 13 it makes no sense that the space suits would not be compatible between spacecraft.
But then one would think that since we have been using thrusters in space since the first Mercury mission, there would not be problems with them as well.
Boeing needs to get their act together across the board and soon or the company is going to struggle for many years to come.

Is the Space Council where they send space cadets?
only to run it.

I believe so
Don, I thought that same thing initially, but there were reasons for the suits being unique. The whole concept behind having two independent vehicles was based on the premise that if something went seriously wrong with one, it would not affect the other. The extended down to the suits and interfaces. It also meant that the two companies could proceed on their own without copying the other.
On the thrusters, though, you're correct. There's no reason anybody should mess that system up at this point in time. It proves, however, that a system issue in one vehicle isn't grounding both. So the concept above may be valid.
Makes sense, Rocky.
Thank you.

It seems (to me!) that someone could build some kind of adapter that they could plug in between the Boing! suits and Elon's Dragon and get those poor folks home.
That's putting it mildly
I think they need to play the theme song for Gilligans Island for them. “A three hour tour ……….”
austin20 - Didn't boeing employees go on strike? I heard something about it last Friday. They're like biden always away from their job. Actually biden's on vacation again. I wonder how many days total did he actually work on his presidency? Yeah here's boeing on stike.
Longer they stay on strike folks would be safe, right?
