Guy wins two auctions....combined shipping confusion

Locust ForkLocust Fork Member Posts: 31,994 ✭✭✭✭

I know you guys love these stories, so I thought I'd share…..

We got an email asking if we do combined shipping last week….yes, we are always happy to combine shipping on anything we sell. No worries.

The guy wins and tells me he wants the LOWER items shipping charges to cover both items. I tell him we cannot possibly do that. The larger item has a normal charge….we can get the other item in the same box and it will not cost anything more.

He starts going on about how he's on a fixed income, we can ship it all for the lesser price….blah blah blah. I replied that we were not shipping it for less than the charge on the higher priced item, but he was not going to be charged the 2nd items fee….so he was saving money.

He sends a message that was so long I didn't even read it…..I just replied, "we had 84 auctions end last night. I am not going back and forth about this anymore, your combined shipping is_____"

I told Shelby to send an invoice over to him so he could pay. I also told Scott to send him a copy of what it cost (showing the FedEx invoice for the label) so he would know exactly how crazy he was.

Shelby never heard back from him…..but….poor Scott got a message where he went on and on about his guy at the post office and how $15 would cover things (you can't even ship their flat rate envelopes for that anymore.) Scott said he responded that we would never trust the post office with another item after the last thing they destroyed, his rates he quoted were WRONG, and the FedEx invoice shows we are actually losing around $6 in shipping costs.

I'm telling you guys…..these people are walking around just causing all the chaos and frustration everywhere they go.

That just gets me fired up. Win and spend X amount of money on an item then want to fight over shipping cost. Figure shipping, transfer fees, etc into total you're willing to pay and be done.

Yep. Doing business when people are involved is hard.

I can relate to your pain. Had a auction winner demand that you can ship a barrel action across the United States from coast to coast for under 20.00$. It got so bad I couldn't get a word in edge wise. Lololol

Okie took the words right out of my mouth !

Shipping cost usually is of little consequence, look first if you don't like it don't bid.

Heck, I'm much more concerned that I have to pay my stupid state sales tax automatically, which in my case amounts to a 8.75% buyers premium.
