I started working when I was very young. For some reason, my brain never measured my pay in dollars per hour but instead, what gun could I buy with that weekly paycheck.
I was always a sucker for a new gun
My first paycheck was $32.00 and change i never said I was the sharpest tool in the shed
i had been eyeing a crosman bb gun at an old chain store. "Mr. Wiggs" So I bought it ,a crosman 761 xl ,fancy version of the 760 crosman pump rifle but with wood stocks and a bright gold colored receiver bb pellet rifle and had just under two dollars left from my check .
But I still have the crosman of course
Don’t have it anymore. Wish I did.
1968 Wards Westernfield 22 (Mossberg) bolt action. For $45. Probably made in the late 40's or 50's. Tube feed, heavy stock and barrel. Accurate but the worst trigger ever. Yes I still have it. Right now it's wearing trigger shoe and a 6.5x20 weaver grand slam scope. And it's seeing duty for the squirrels that chewed up the wiring in my truck. They gotta go.
Wards Western field 22 (Mossberg) for me too - but the semi auto with a 7 shot clip (couldn't afford the tubular magazine model). Saved up from driving a tractor/disk and flagging for crop dusters in the summer. Got to where I could pop the head off a black bird with it. I later refinished the stock and gave it to my wife's little brother, one Christmas. Sadly, it was lost in the fire that killed their dad.
1969, at 14 my father bought me a Mossberg 144LSB so I could join the HS rifle team. $85 I think. We carried our rifles to & from HS and no one cared. Yes, I still have it.
About 1964-65 on of my buddies older brother was shipping out to the Navy.He had a Remington 514 he knew I wanted but had no money.I some way came up with 3 dollars and he sold me the rifle for that amount.
My first gun was a Remington 41-P single shot bolt action .22. It was given to me when I was 12. I bought my first shotgun, a Brazilian made single shot break action 12 ga for $25.00 at Discount City in Jacksonville, Texas. My dad had to do the actual buying since I was under 18.
Probably still haven't bought my last gun.
My first gun was also an Ithaca 66 super single in 410 that dad bought for me when I was only six. The first gun I purchased on my own was a Winchester 370 12 gauge from a family friend when I was 18. I paid 40 dollars for it. I still have both
First gun was the Remington 550-1 given to me by my dad. First gun I bought for myself was a Beretta 92FS.

First for me was my 4th birthday, a Marlin Little Buckaroo .22. Dad and Grandpa figured I was old enough to start learning to shoot. The day I turned 18 I made it a point to walk into my favorite LGS, buy a rifle of my own choosing, and I did. An M48 Mauser, and a pile of Turkish ammo. My shoulder still twitches 26 years later.
Bought my first from the gun shop in Milwaukee that sold the gun that killed Bobby Kennedy!
Sold my first .22, a J C Higgins made for Sears buy the old High Standard. Brought more than twice what my dad paid in 1960.
You forget the first gun sold for a profit picture.
