One of only two B-29s still flying is coming to Utah in September. I just bought a ticket to fly in the Navigator's seat for a half-hour mission.
Excited? Can you guess?
I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

Wow….that will be an adventure…Not a clue what something like that costs, but I bet it will be worth every cent!!!!😀
fantastic, I hope some documentary photos are to follow.

A few years ago, I had a flight in a B-17. Along with the rest of us was a man who had been a radio operator in B-17s in The Big One. He never said a word during our fligt, but you could see the "movies" playing in his mind the whole time. Just riding with him was a distinct honor.
Here you go @William81
And, they just happen to be in St. Joseph Missouri, Sept. 13-15

Pretty cool
Remember when you are taxing in, All controls CCW or OFF, Sextant stowed., keep your seatbelt fastened until blocked in. And don't leave a mess on my desk. Good luck.
I think I would leave a big mess in the bombardier area.
Very special, Rocky.
I have taken a flight in a B-17 and a P-51.
Are you in Doc or Fifi?

cool
And don’t leave an unsecured gas can on top of a generator in the back of the airplane.

That plane will be at an airshow an hour away from me in a couple weeks. I'll have to go see it.
I'm going to an antique aircraft show this weekend. I took my nephew last year and we had an absolute blast. There were dozens of beautiful biplanes.
Wow! It will be quite an experience, I’m sure. The cockpit window on those things always amazed me. If I were going to fly a plane, I’d want a view like that (so long as there wasn’t flak coming up).
This plane is "Doc".
Good for you, Rocky! If they offer (not that they would!) will you take a turn at the yoke?
I’ve been to the Oshkosh air show a couple of times, and my hats off to those that own and maintain those old warbirds so that they can still be seen today. Or as the old joke goes, war birds are what makes multimillionaires in to just millionaires. lol.
To secure a seat in one of those old warbirds is a dream come true. Don’t forget to take pictures and post after the flight. Your going to have a blast, enjoy.
Cool!
Dad flew 17s, 24s, & later 29s. Used to talk about it all the time. So many of these heroes are gone. Thankfully some of their aircraft are still around.
My brother and I decided to get our Dad a ride in a B-24, the plane our Dad flew around 30 +/- 1 or 2 missions during WWII. Just before we ordered his tickets I thought maybe I should ask him if he would like this as a present since this wasn't a cheap present. This was in the early 2000s, 2006 maybe??
He was not a fan of the idea. He said he wouldn't climb into that B-24, no way, no how, absolutely not. I asked him why?
His answer? "I just stopped having nightmares maybe 10 years ago. I'm not doing anything that might start giving me nightmares again!!!! I guess 45 to 50 years of nightmares would be enough!
I couldn't argue with that.
Dad and his crew were on their third B-24 when they decided enough was enough. I guess having to bailout three times, twice behind enemy lines was quite sufficient for Dad and any B-24.
Bless him.
There will be B-25 rides in Spanish Fork on Sept 27-28. Really tempted.
Can't believe @Warbirds hasn't chimed in.
I never have been in a B29 but I have the autograph of "Dutch" Van Kirk who was the navigator on the Enola Gay.
He was selling a book written about his squadron and the Enola Gay at a local gun show.
I done the 1 hour ride in a T6 Texan that was a blast they also had a B25 there that they was giving rides in but is was booked solid for the time it was there that plane was on loan to warbird adventures
