FFL license expired

Won an auction for a Savage 99, sent payment, seller shipped item to my FFL, my FFL's license is going to expire before he receives it. I call the seller and he tells me that it shouldn't matter because it was purchased and shipped before the license runs out. Doesn't matter because FFL won't even try to finish the transfer without a current license.

That's a great story.

So is there a question here ?
A reputable place would have had their new FFL long before their old one expired. Is he not renewing it or did he just drag his feet too long?
So does your item have to sit in his shop until his ffl is current and active again??
I have received expired, FFL that was a month out of date before I do not ship if expired unless FFL has a extension letter,I even got one that was a year expired of gb
That will be between you and your FFL. I would go beat him up, but that's just me.
FFLs are permitted to continue business as long as the renewal was sent in before expiration date. The trouble would be if someone continues business if the application was not sent.
I'd get the seller another FFL, have them re-route the package to your new dealer or have them stop it and have it returned to them. If it is delivered to your incompetent dealer tell them to refuse the package and have it sent back to your seller. I'd pay a second shipping charge and have it sent somewhere else before I'd chance someone who can't do something as simple as getting an extension letter for their license.
