Pre Model 11 Remington Shotgun

GunswapperGunswapper Member Posts: 1,047 ✭✭✭

A friend has a 12 gauge remington shotgun Serial number 121700. This is not marked Model 11. The safety is inside the trigger guard. Any idea of the model or when it was made? Any info will be appreciated.

When your friend gets the chance have him pull the barrel off and there is a serial number under the barrel next to the barrel ring. If the serial number matches the gun, it's value goes up. Back then you could swap barrels according to your preference for choke and barrel length, and a lot of barrels and guns are mismatched.

I have #126952 with the matching number on the barrel and the date code D UU (9/49). It is stamped MODELII on the bolt. It, too, has the "suicide" safety; I am surprised that safety was still in production as late as 1949.
