I just spoke with Steve's wife Jimmie. He passed away in his sleep yesterday morning. Despite all the hope & prayers, they were somewhat expecting it. She said that at 78, he just gave up. Their son and friends are with her to support and help her. Jimmie appreciates all the concern, prayers and well wishes. She is OK for now and I will call back in a week. Nothing we can do for her but I'm sure she will get a few cards. AL

Crossing the Bar
By Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

This is the worst possible news.
Steve wasn't one of the good guys, he was THE good guy.
Sitting here with tears in my eyes from the loss of a dear friend I never met.
My prayers for Steve and his family.
His kindness touched so many people, he left us way too soon but he also left us an example of how to treat and care for each other.
Rest in peace Steve
As it has been said, Steve was a great person. I will miss him. Condolences to his family.
Prayers for all
This is just shocking. I feel like I just met him at Cracker Barrel the other day. Time is just zooming by on me these days. I let too much time go by without thinking about how long it has been since I had talked to him and his sweet wife. I swear, I'll wake up tomorrow and ten years will have passed. Steve was such an Angel. He was always mailing comic strips, cards, pens, little flashlights and such. I can't count the number of times I've been surprised by something from him in the mail. Talking to him, he always had good advice and a great outlook on things…..no complaints or dreary tales of misery or excuses. I just looked forward to every encounter. I'm going to miss him. For sure.
Sorry to hear of his passing my condolences
Sincere condolences to all involved.
Never interacted with him, but certainly heard/read great things about him.
A great loss, prayers from here and certainly heaven bound.
In a world running short on good guys........we lost an exceptional person.
R.I.P. Steve
Steve and I had many emails back and forth. Initially he was inquisitive about the 10mm auto, but moved to just friendship. We'd get seasonal cards.
Take care Steve. RIP
