Anyone else had this? How long to get over it.I know I should not have done it at my age,but I put a metal roof on a utility building that was so steep that I had to use a harness and rope to keep from sliding off and doing so apparently stretched a hamstring.

Well dangit. Take it easy. Can you apply heating pad. Walk it off. Just in your house, walk around a little, rest it, repeat. Heal quickly.
I can tell you what to do if you tear it completely off your ishial tuberosity to include pulling a little bone off with the tendon. If you just tweaked it, not a clue. To be on the safe side I would advise getting it checked to make sure you didn't tear it.
I could walk after I tore mine. Just couldn't straighten my leg. Day two I had a bruise from the top of my leg, almost to my ankle. Walked on it until I had surgery. Never had much pain.
I’m pulling for you, buddy.

I would take the professional advice every time.
Back in the late 1980's......I tweaked my left hammy on a racquetball court. About 10 days later.....I had a large dark purple bruise, that stretched from the crotch to my knee.
I "lived" in a hot whirlpool for about 3 weeks.🥵
Hope it heals up fast for you a lot of good advice has been posted not much I can add
Except me being a dummy
Being older and fighting it I have not got the stretching before use mind sei
Like when i was younger i guess and jump right on a project and end up hurting myself pullimg and strained muscles has become to commom
but do I learn "nooooooo" I keep repeating the same mistakes
Rest and heating pads are your friend now
It's been a couple days, how you doing? Hopefully feeling better, and it was just strain vs damage. Best wishes.

I got some good advice on here.Put a compression bandage on it and stayed off my feet nearly all day Sunday and it was much better with just one days rest. Thanks to all.
Good news. Glad it was not a more serious injury.
