I don't even know how I did it. Woke up one morning and had this brusing from arm pit to below elbow. Shoulder pain. Scared my wife half to death.
My doctor just said take it easy for three weeks.

OUCH! take it Easy Jim.
YIKES!!
Yeah, that dont look fun. Rest it, heal quickly.
Be careful with that. I stepped in a hole in my back field, and had immediate excruciating pain. I went to the PA that was covering while my PCP was out of country, and he sent me to 12 weeks of PT. After no improvement, I got in touch with my PCP to recommend an orthopedist Turns out I had a partially torn bicep, and the PT could have finished the job, doing irreversible damage. I now have some nice shiny (I suppose) screws anchoring the bicep, but not the flexibility and strength I had before. Moral of story: don't mess around too long until you fight for a specialist and an MRI to find out what's really going on in there. But mine never looked like that!!!
Ouch!
playing with the ban hammer again???
Yeah, but I might apply for a temporary membership in the left hand club.
What does Olive Oil think about this, Popeye?

I'm not a doctor, but I would advise an MRI. When I had bruising like that I had completely torn my hamstring off the bone. Yanked a little bone off with the tear.
Screws and sutures were placed to reattach everything. Because I got to it early the ortho didn't have to cut down my leg to get the hamstring and pull it up. One sideways incision was all it took. The bruising went all the way to my ankle.
YIKES…… do what the Doc tells you !!!
How's it doing Jim? Did you get it looked at to be sure?
The bruising is going away but I still have soreness in my shoulder. If it doesn't get 100% better in a couple of weeks I'm going to ask for an MRI.
It's hunting and wood cutting season, so I need to get with the program.
Thanks for asking.
Best wishes for continued healing.
Don't wait a couple of weeks. If something is seriously torn your body will begin to build up scar tissue, more damage might be done and more extensive surgery might have to be done to repair what you have torn. Better to err on the side of caution.
What Susie said. Some insurance companies are very reluctant to pre-approve MRI's and it can take a while (think a month or more) to get one set up. You can always cancel the procedure if it improves in the meantime.
