I’m not sure if this is where I want to ask this question or not but I’m new here and I have firearms to list but I don’t have an FFL. A friend of mine sold on here before and he said that I can sell a rifle to a registered FFL but since it is a rifle I don’t need one. He said if I was selling a handgun I would have to sell it through a local dealer to a registered FFL. I have a few 22 rifles I would like to list but I want to be sure he is telling me the truth. Any information would be helpful and thank you for your time.

Been covered many times but yes, a private seller can sell and ship any firearm, almost always has to ship TO an FFL. Private seller can ship long guns through the post office or UPS. Handguns can only ship UPS next day air which is generally cost prohibitive so it's sometimes cheaper to have a local FFL ship it for you through the post office even though you will have to pay the local FFL for this service. Only FFLs can ship handguns through the post office.
Edited to reflect FEDEX no longer accepts private party firearm shipping.
Thank you, @shootuadeal
I are confused.

Thank you, that helps a lot.
Does anyone know the average shipping price for a single shot 22 rifle, and do you normally add the shipping cost like you would in e-bay? Once again thank you for your advice.
Most sellers charge ~$25-40 for shipping a rifle. If it is a higher value item, I'd add a little to that for insurance and better packaging.
Shipping and transfer fees really hurt a lot of deals if it's a commom or inexpensive gun
But a lot of great sellers post on the forum the auction side and having their history and feedback will really help In selling
