Just turned it over on my ole grey mare!
2005 Chevy Silverado Z71 extended cab.
She has some rust down low but still a good solid truck.
Plenty of scratches and stains.
She needs a quart or two of oil every 1000 miles or so.
Besides usual wear parts, I have only replaced the water pump and a piece of brake line.
The check engine light has been there for 10+ years
Some gas sensor, $10 part, $200 to replace
I was told not worth it
Hoping I get another 50,000 out of her at least
She’s my farm and hunting truck
That and she saves me miles on my “good “ truck

My 2004 2500HD with the 6.0 is still going strong at 265,805. She's had a couple little issues, the most recent being a broken heater core connector, but overall I've been real happy with it.

When it got to 100000 , I asked my mechanic to flush the transmission and change the filter.
He also does racing transmissions.
Hw asked if it was having issues.
I said no.
He said if you do nothing it will last forever.
If I mess with it, we will be replacing it in a few months.
I believed him. Still going.

My 94 gmc half ton has just about 250 k my 97 GMC 4x4 has 102k
My Wifes 2010 element has 130k oldest sons 2005 element 400k + but was put to pasture this year
We do all out own work and replacing parts on all ofbthem but also drive them to they drop and then kick them to life and get a few more miles LOL
My 69 camaro has about 60 some k original miles but it's had a sheltered life .
My last work vehicle was a 2004 Silverado 1500. I bought it second hand (one family owner) with around 74K. After I retired, I offered the pickup with 175K to Grandson for 60% of what I paid. He didn't blink since the prices of used vehicles in good to excellent condition have escalated so much. He's put 15K on it since I let him have it.
The 2000 Chevy 2500 that I drove before the 2004 ran over 220K before so many issues arose that it wasn't dependable .

This is often the case with high mileage transmissions when no service or oil/filter change has been done. Changing oil in a 100K tranny can cause all sorts of bad stuff to happen.
We have a Dodge that hit 275,000… it still turns over but we don't drive it because it's going to kick the bucket any moment lol

Let's see. My '94 Caprice is showing 350K on this odo. The pervious one crapped out and it had 25K or 30K more (I have the exact number somewhere). I figure she's headed to 400K on untouched tranny (just add a little fluid when it starts acting up) since 113K when I got her back in 2002. Here's hoping for 500K miles.

I just sold my sons 2007 Dodge Caravan to a junk recycler online this morning. It has only 215,000 miles but keeps losing bits of metal every time you slam a door too hard.
This is a first for me for this online stuff. The local junkyards only pay around 100 bucks for such in this condition. It does run and still retains its catalytic converter, so I was offered 300 bucks and they will pick it up tomorrow. I probably screwed up but I really hate selling sub-par cars!!
I had a 1988 Honda Accord that had 330,000 miles when sold. The people that bought it used it on a mail route for two years and then sold again. I have a 1998 Honda CRV I drive often with 290,000.
My 1995 f150 finally died with 226000 miles on it . Maintenance consisted of one radiator ,2 starters and an alternator.
I have a a 2003 Chevy Silverado I bought in February 2004 that they didn’t sell. They wanted $34,000 for it. Through the railroad at the time we got a discount on new Chevy vehicles. Before the discount they knock off $2000 because they wanted to move it, two years before that I had bought a Chevy Tracker that qualified me for a discount Chevy was running, all total I got the truck for just under $25000. I still have the truck with only 53000 miles, no rust. I have had several people tell me to let them know if I decide to sell it. I can see now that the truck will out live me after reading everyone’s comments.
You all have gotten great service out of your rigs. I don't think we'll ever see that with newer vehicles.
My 95 f150 was wrecked /hit by others 4 times . Payouts to me from insurance[theirs] amounted to almost $4000.00 that i pocketed . Damages were minimal to my truck . Figured it all up .Bought truck in 1997,sold as scrap in 2021 for $400.00. With what I paid for it , money from the damages I collected and the repair bills my cost of ownership came out to a little over $100.00 a year . I doubt that the 2018 I currently own will work out that cheap .On the plus side lol, i suspect that it will be the last truck i will need to buy ,if it lasts as long as the 95 did . Love my fords !
pulsarnc - I too was doing the math on my '94. Paid $2500 back in 2002. They wanted me to pay $3600 but I talked them down from that high perch. Then back (I wanna say) 2016 she was side swiped and their insurance "totaled" her out for $2200 (or there abouts). Passenger side front fender and door got pushed in a little. Spent the cash on a Kriss Vector 10mm CRB.
So figure $300 for 22 years?

he was given a new honda. he made some aperences to celebrate and take ownership of his new car
The Company had him and the car as a sales point as he had reached a million miles on his honda
But I seem to recall he had parts replaced a few times like the enging and transmission and of course the normal wear and tear items
At the time it was big news
My 2000 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V-8 turned over 230,000 yesterday. I haven't had much to put into its daily operation other than a front disc brake job, a starter, and various wiring issues. lubrication is done every 3000, tire rotation every 10,000. exhaust system after the cat converter is needed sometime in the future, maybe. i just don't drive that much anymore
I don't know how many miles the Camaro had on it before I sold it….that was the only one that had any chance of actually being able to keep going for an extended lifespan. All my other cars have been the kind you drive until something major comes along and you replace them. I did put two transmissions and two motors in a Ford Escape….it sounds horrible, but it was relatively cheap to flip these parts and keep that car going at that time. It survived many many years and finally died when the second daughter took it over.
My boys recently bought a 2000 Chevy Silverado extended cab 4x4 from a friend. It was stuck in low 4 wheel drive. I ordered a switch (about $30.00} to fix that problem. I think it will make them a good truck .
Personally, I prefer my 1996 extended cab Ford Ranger 4x4 with 3.0l V6 and 5 speed manual transmission. It does all I need to do.
My Nissan Frontier has 530,000 miles and runs fine.One of my uncles neighbors has an old Datsun pick up with a million + miles.
Picked up a new 2022 Chevy 1500 last yr. lts a 4x4x4. l wonder how long that 4banger will last. Just turned over 6000 miles. 2.7litres/330hp seems adequate. l don't own a camper, boat, or trailer. lts really a country cadillac. lts my first full size Cheby

discusdad - Oil change every 3K miles after 200K miles? I think I started to do oil change every 5K miles way before hitting 200K miles. But isn't oil changes at 3K miles for rides from 60s/70s? I suppose one can't be blamed for doing too many oil changes that killed a motor.
