Bear hunt

My 85 year young newlywed aunt has invited me to join her and her new husband (85 as well) on a black bear hunt this fall in West Virginia where they live. They are near Glady, West Virginia in the mountains. He owns a hunting camp where they hunt every fall. Any pointers? I assume my 30.06 is good for bear hunting.

Shoot him in the chest. Yes, the 30-06 will handle a black bear with ease.
Ott 6 will be fine. Good luck.
At 85, just wow, salute.
Newlywed at 85, and bear hunting. Damn.
Bear hunting….It sounds like a great adventure coming your way ! I am envious
Have a spot reserved with a taxidermist so you can just drop it off to him or her when you get back home with your new bear rug. The dog's'll love it!
That's some remote country, but beautiful in the Fall. Bring warm clothes because it get cold up there early.
We were camping nearby in Blackwater Falls and it got down to 39 degrees one night. In June!
Swell, that'll be a fun time!
'06 will do the job quite nicely. Nice area around Glady. Southern part of the state, south of Charleston, has a rapidly expanding population. Liberal use of dogs and Boone Co has a concurrent firearms deer and bear season. Not sure about other counties. Our early season in MIngo Co just ended. I have a friend that hunted with some men from New York state that came in and they treed four and harvested one in three days of hunting. Green Bank area around the observatory has a good population too. Regular pics on game cameras now.
If you do, you'll pass within visiting distance to Jim Deere and me.
Watch out for Mothman !
Sounds like a good time to me, don't forget to let us know how it went.
