still here, warning for gardeners

oldemagicsoldemagics Member Posts: 5,845 ✭✭✭

still kicking although weekly many days

just wanted to warn all gardeners here to avoid an outfit on line called "seed nerds"

with the small income i get from disability i was happy to find such good seed prices, especially as this may well be my last season and they listed ground cherries, something i had been missing for 50 years

(stupid me never thought to look on line)

anyway, took 2 weeks before i got the first indication the order was received, and that was the bank statement

e-mailed them as to what was up and finally got the word they were on the way… from china as it turned out when they got here !

then the f-up became evident

the ground cherries i was wanting so bad grew to be roma tomatoes

the butternut squash ended up being kabocha squash, otherwise known as japanese pumpkin (but still a good eating squash and HUGE)

banana peppers are actually cayenne peppers

the red stem malabar ( a vineing warm weather spinach) even with what looked like hundreds of seeds… never had a single one sprout

of course by the time i discover all this, WAY to late to re-plant, and no response the the angry e-mail i sent them

dis-appointment and seriously pissed off doesnt even describe it

    Sorry to hear

I like many have bought cheaper items I know from China with mixed results

China has taken over the USA in many ways, slowly and some what unnoticed like jobs, and production the big ones

I watch a lot of car shows on YouTube and other repair or DIY shows

one Thing in common China quality control is non existent

Wrong parts, bad parts , is the norm

But so much is imported it effects countless people

Repair shops are getting hit hard they do a repair and two weeks later the parts fail, and they get the blame

Most shops refuse to use any thing but factory replacement parts , but even that's not a sure thing as most all come from China

Keith . We are so Glad your still doing OK and just keep fighting we are all behind you,

They give the 6 yr old factory worker a coffee can of seeds and a stack of packets. "Put between 7 and 40 seeds in each packet." "But the packets are all randomly mixed." "That's OK, so are the seeds".

Good to see you posting. Sorry for your let down with the garden.

Reminds me of that movie “Second-Hand Lions” when Robert Duvall buys a bunch of seeds from a traveling salesman and plans to have a big garden….. then everything comes up as corn.
