Walked a mile in my Crocs

yoshmysteryoshmyster Member Posts: 21,858 ✭✭✭✭

actually it may have been 2 miles? Farthest I walked in years. Last Saturday I was cleaning my K&N air filter after my Caprice didn't pass smog (actually would have failed if ran through the machine for realsies). I was just planning to just do the air filter hose and re-oil but since my hands were already dirty. I decided to swap out the coil. The MSD coil was dirty and wasn't bulging but since I had a new one laying about might as well. Did you know MSD is now made in China and no longer made in USA like the old one. So sometime in the last 20 years they cheaped out.

Anyways I took the coil and bracket off and found out (remembered) the silly thing needed the thermal paste for the aluminum heat exchanger. So I walked to O'Reillys about .5 miles away to buy some. No gots. I thought I found it there at the register next to the dielectric grease and other mustard packs. Nope. While there I ordered a throttle body gasket when I clean the throttle body and replace the IAC this week.

So I walked across the street to Auto Zone and see if they had it. Nope but the dude suggested Walmart and Best Buy. Before going I thought ACE might have it that's also across the street from Auto Zone. Nope. So the lesser of two evil was Walmart since they do sell PCs that's about .5 miles from where I was at ACE. So I hoofed it. Got there and the helper said only online. You're probably wondering why didn't I call first no government tracker for me. So I walked home and called best Buy and they said yes we have it after talking to their machine.

Looked at the time and it was 1400-ish and I was thinking it was still early enough that I may not lose my parking spot for the mini-van. It was a slightly overcast but warm. So I drove to Best Buy and bought a $8.00 tube of 3ml syringe of paste. Got back and still had my spot empty. Aces. Slop the goop and buttoned up the coil and Caprice turned over. I knew she would but wasn't sure about the new Chinese MSD.

After this I plan to have my Caprice MotorVac-ed. Basically a machine that does what Sea foam-ing does. Hopefully the place that I went to 15 years ago still does it. Why didn't I go back? Last time I was there I saw a delivery guy drop off two cans of Barrrymans B-12. Since my car was the only thing they were working on I added the information to get my answer. So I'd add a can or two of B-12 and do an Italian Tune Up and get my smog test done. This time I also had a vacuum leak near the throttle and I guess she was running rich for a while so there is extra carbon build up that needs the extra servicing. So the two cans and the Italian Tune Up didn't work.

Oh I came across a video on MotorVac. I didn't know they clean the throttle plate. Since i got to take off the throttle body to do the IAC R/R it'll get twice as clean.

Well if I had any crocs, I wouldn't tell anyone. But yep, sad to see all the American name brands made in China.

Well a little walking is good for you

My wife started wearing crocks years ago

About 5 yrs ago, while visiting my heart, doc. i noticed he also wore them he said best thing ever when working in his office

So tried and liked them and have been wearing them around the house but not out shopping but I see lot if people do

Hard to think the parts stores did have the grease but any more seems more comom to not have anything

Lucky for me i do have room to keep such items in larger packages or tube's i learend living 12 miles from town it saves a lot of road time so i try and keep well really more parys and do/dads on hand then the internet came along one god thing about it and now have most items delivered to my home and cheaper too

Walking anywhere outside the home in shoes that just slop around on one's feet seems to be nonsensical.

    Walking is good exercise.

    Those shoes are horrible.

I wear mine everywhere. So comfortable.

I have a big bag of letters & numbers. If you want to put yosh on your crocs, I'll see if I have some you like!

Crocs are undoubtably a fashion faux paux, but I defend to the death Yosh's (and others) right to offend us publically, by wearing them publically.

Horse Plains Drifter - If the silly thing lasts 10 years (I reckon I'll be dead by then) money well spent?

Ditch-Runner - Been wearing Crocs for decades. Back when they were like $15 a pair. I priced the one Deadpool wore (those bright blue ones) and saw that Crocs are like $40. I don't need * Crocs that bad. Anyways, I thought I was gonna be sore the next day but nope. Didn't even get leg cramps.

tomh. - Dude that's crazy naming my Crocs.

He Dog - If Crocs are fashion faux paux then just add that to my other fashion crimes. Colored baggy cammy shorts, t-shirts with something funny caption or image (like a rat and a donkey, think about that) and my Hello Kitty Hawaiian shirt or other Hawaiian shirt.

The plan was just to walk a few blocks to O'Reilly's. Otherwise I would of wore my boots. But since I was half way to Walmart I didn't wanna go home to get the mini van so I kept on trucking. It seems one has to plan and have everything before working these days.

So called the MotorVac place and it seems they're out of business. So I get to look to see who does this locally.

This is as close as I come to croc’s. Great grand daughter slipped earlier this year account of wearing croc’s and broke her leg, she’s 3 years old. Wife and I walk everyday, it’s great exercise.

The only time I wear Croc's is when I'm launching or retrieving my boat, water drains out really well and has good traction while standing in water.

Yosh, I read your list of additional fashion faux paux. You will get no push back from me on adding them.

DPHMIN - Arkansas, huh? Not far as Virginia but too close to Oklahoma (that's a funny for all you Tehans). It's also just a bit away from Louisiana. Close enough without having to deal with the riff raffs? But again too late to start over. Also no longer high class and entering the lot lizard territory.

Crocs weren't all that good on wet, smooth floors but I never busted a leg. Did almost do the splits like James Brown a few times (that's how I know they suck on wet, smooth floors). Now if Crocs put in slip resistant stickers like skateboard tape inserts (my million dollar idea). A cheap fix but will require better adhesive.

He Dog - Yeah the way I dress I believe even Stevie Wonder can get a "peek" of my fabulousness.
