My medicare update
Met with a very nice young couple yesterday. They are independent insurance brokers, but only deal with medicare.
They looked at my current coverage and gave a couple other options. After comparing I chose to stay with current coverage.
They explained and showed me writing in my coverage booklet, where it will automatically renew. It will only drop if I ever choose to change plans. They further went on to explain benefits I did not know I had. I told them I feel my coverage just doubled from what I originally had. A couple benefits I get is free gym membership at one of several gyms near me. Another is quarterly $50 spending for OTC pharmacy, personal care items from on line. The unused balance of the $50 each quarter will carry over each quarter until end of year. Then it's use it or loose it. We signed up an account on line and found we had $200 spending credit. We put in a order from hundreds of name brand items, and spent our allowance. Got email confirmation, and items are enroute.
My coverage is through blue cross, blue shield, with zero dollar premium.
They then showed us a couple options for wife. Her coverage scared us as she has to have her Rxs covered and at a affordable price. They got her coverage that is zero premium, covers all her Rxs with zero out of pocket, except for one Rxs, the expensive one. However, going through mail order pharmacy our total out of pocket cost including deductible is right at $500 a year. From a potential of $1500 a month Rx., we are just thrilled with this coverage. They further explained the rest of the coverage.
A huge worry has been removed. Ymmv, hoping you find as great of agent and coverage.

Good for you Joe! I hope they were showing you next years 2025 prices and not just what you currently have, word is they are going up at the end of the year and as you know I'm looking for a new plan since mine told me it won't be available next year… I don't think blue cross is available in my area, but I'll keep them in mind.
Yep, all 2025 quotes. I asked them, being in the business, and having access to more info than I, what's the post election projection. They said they have no idea and rumors are just that at this point.
Hope,pray,vote.
So is your Blue Cross a supplement to Medicare? Also, how can the policy be zero premium?
Medicare advantage plan.
Sounds like I’ve got a lot to learn before retirement. 😁
It gets really confusing. Not the same across the board. So many variables, options. Part A,B. Oh and part D, but Part C is the advantage plan that bundles Part A,B, and D. My response was, huh??
And it get's even more confusing with how they work with or against other benefits like VA or retirement benefits and also where you live since not every plan is everywhere….
Getting old is confusing.
I'm gonna have to go that route come next July.
Would you mind PMing me their contact info? They sound like they have this stuff dialed in!
Cerainly.
Info sent in PM. Hope they can help you.
@NeoBlackdog
Thank you!
I'm glad the VA takes care of me
How has that experience been? I expect to have option to use Tricare or VA, and I’ve heard some say VA is better.
