conceal carry in the open, open carry under concealment. Works for me.

I'm OK with either… I rarely do though…
I see a lot more people around here open carrying
. What ever any one likes is fine with but I like conceled it's just less attention
I carry openly hiking or hunting. In urban settings, openly armed guy/gal = first target. Concealed in town.
Open carry is legal in Colorado but all it accomplishes is drawing unwanted attention to yourself. Open carry in a potential combat situation simply tells the bad guy(s) "Shoot me first."
Concealed everywhere but the shower.
My Wife and I were at at a restaurant a couple weeks back and a older fellow maybe in his 70's was carrying a glock and even had a young boy maybe 13 or 14 yrs old asking questions about it and the laws at the old guys table
Not for Me
however I am glad we have the right, but also, like stated, they get the attention good and bad
I am in the concealed boat. I dont want anyone knowing what I have, until I NEED it to be used. Dont want that target on my back.
Gun? What gun?
NeoBlackdog has it right.
Why advertise? Unless you're an attention seeking nimrod, that is.

I open carry regularly. I'll take my chances. I'd be interested in seeing some statistics, say, hours open carrying or number of times open carried versus the number of people that open carry being the "first target". I suspect the number of times a person was targeted simply for that method of carry is so minor it can barely register.
Even if minor, I dont want the bad guy to have ANY advantage.
🙈
Carrying concealed doesn't guarantee any advantage if they get the drop on you, and there will always be too many variables to guarantee they never will. Frankly I don't care which way you carry as long as you do.
I only open carry when I am hunting otherwise it is concealed for me.
I am part of the security team at my church. I am there for services on Sunday and Wednesday evenings for small group studies and our programing for the youth. I once had a woman at church ask me if I was armed. I told her I was and she said "you are actually carrying a firearm right now ?" Two I told her….. She said I can't tell…. To which I answered "That is the point"
My goal is too look like that nice old guy both at church and everywhere else I go…. As said above, basically if I am dressed, I am armed…
In warm/hot weather, I'm in the 'discreet open carry' mode. During cool/cold weather, a vest or jacket is my cover.
MO is basically 'anything goes' so I can do as I wish. A neatly dressed old guy with a semi-concealed handgun isn't really noticed.
Tactical vests are pretty obvious though.
…we have open carry or concealed in Texas…I've carried concealed for 25+ years…I don't show my hand in poker why show it when life or death may be involved…
Touché ,,,,,, 👍🏻
I'm with @He Dog . I conceal carry in populated areas nearly exclusively, but open carry in the woods working, playing, or hunting. In a mixed environment like a public hiking trail (where carry is legal) for instance, I'd consider the ratio of danger. Are people the bigger threat or wildlife?
I know open carry is markedly faster to present, but like others said already, they'll likely be the first target too.
Well then, I'll stick to a fanny pack.😉
I go both ways…
I open carry locally periodically. I live semi rurally and have a coffee shop 15 minutes walk. So it's open carry where "everybody knows your name." The few folks that don't (locally) will have the opportunity to ask questions, or at a bare minimum, see more firearms being carried peacefully and legally. It might just make a gun fearing control advocate less fearing. I know. I know… But who knows.
When I'm out in a bigger city (Charlottesville) I certainly carry concealed everywhere I can. I have one holster for my EDC so when not local, it's easier (and yes, I'm not a target).
Still waiting on the statistics showing the "first target" theory being more than myth or tales spoken only by old married women.
Maybe I'm fatalistic. I wore the logoed jacket/cap/ID of a Federal agency for 13 years before retiring in 2023. If anything was going to attract the first bullet, one would think that would be it. Lately, I make an effort NOT to go places that are expected to attract violent criminals just waiting to blast anyone in sight.
Just walking around with a discreetly holstered handgun doesn't seem to be a giant target for me.
I’m with austin20 on this, I’m the only one that needs to know that I have a gun.
Well, if you believe statistics........then i cant help. Just common sense tells me, a criminal very well could see and open carry person as a direct threat to them. At the very least, it will get the criminals attention.
Apparently my opinion makes me an old married woman. LOL
Laugh all you want. All I'm asking for is some sort of reference that open carry is as dangerous as some claim. I don't think it's too much to ask, really. For all the deflection I'm seeing, I sure wouldn't want to shoot trap on a bet against some of you guys.🤣
Don't really have a stylish method for me to open carry. 😕
Everyone will just assume I carry nothing since I'm a "little white haired grandma." Best to keep it that way.
You aren't?
Pistol packin' grandmama!
Yep, thus comes my wife's handle;
GTGrammy. Gun Totin Grammy
Have you tried conceal carry in the shower?
Brad Steele
The towel gets wet.
That's kinky!
I regret my previous 'attention seeking nimrod' comment. You're an adult and you can do what you like.
Concealed carry for me. I don't want the attention that showing a sidearm brings. Here in the ever increasing anti-gun state of Colorado, open carry is a bad idea because all it takes is one lib to say 'he brandished a gun at me and I was scared' and the law will be knocking on (or possibly knocking IN) my door.

Before I posted my first response in this thread, but based on some of the comments so far, I'm beginning to question just what has happened to this place, and just how long I should stick around, when exercising 2A in its purest form is answered with criticism, paranoia, and outright mocking.
Ummmmm, I only saw ONE person on here calling people names.
Just sayin'
You might want to look again @mike55 the first comment with any mocking and/or name calling wasn't from @Gunnut358 and even though it was later regretted in another comment what was said, was said. So why don't we just stop with trying to "prove" what is the correct way to carry or not and just keep it to the question the OP asked, no need to get upset if someone asks for facts vs. what someone else believes. If there are actual statistics to back up a theory, then post em, else they are just opinions which everybody has a right to their own. Kind of silly to get upset either way…
Ok, i did miss one. So 2 name calling. Either way, its still funny. An opinion was asked, and several opinions were given....including my opinion. If your under the impression that I was offended/upset, then I assure you I was/am not.
Sir, Whereas I can certainly see your point, we're all really in this together and I for one would like as much help as i can get. I would welcome a trusted grump in my foxhole. Not to create discord. 😉
I just open carried today, briefly. 38F this morning and 69F this afternoon. I was too hot this afternoon and removed my fleece shirt revealing my handgun to at least 3 people in a gas station parking lot.
My foot tastes funny….
