Guys trying to use their C&R to get items they cannot legally have in their area

I'm always happy to take a C&R for anything I can…..my only issue are the stupid states with the "extra" restrictions. This is why so many people don't take them. Its nearly impossible to keep it all straight and you can easily mess up and send something that is restricted to someone. I don't imagine in the long run it would be a major issue on my end if that were to ever happen….but the recipient would be in deep-doo-doo. I'm not risking it either way.

Some goober sent me an email asking if I'd send one of the AK-47s to his C&R….it qualifies….but he is in NEW YORK. What the heck dude? He knows better. This thing has all kinds of nonsense they aren't allowed to own in New York. I just replied…."doesn't this have features on it you are prohibited from owning?"

The whole pre-ban thing and what is grandfathered in might apply….but I've never had an AK go to New York before, so I highly doubt its allowed.

I get so tired of all the extra nonsense some days.

There is more than enough confusion to go around on the 03 license; both by the holder and 01 (and other) sellers. I've held one for a long time and pretty well know the rules but get frustrated by 01's who won't/don't honor them. If they've ever seen the application they would see it is quite similar to a 4473 and a copy must be filed with the most local law enforcement chief. The ATF makes this more difficult by not having a verified list of eligible 03 licensees.

If type 1's don't accept your C&R, don't do business with them. They are not required to accept it. There are few one of a kind items out there. Search most things and find so many choices, you are looking at price and shipping to seperate them. More rare? Come back tomorrow, or next week.

An AK-47? I don't think there would be any AK variations that qualify as C&R, as in 50 years and older. That's 1974. The first actual AK did not hit the U.S. market until the Steyr/Maadi in the 1980's. Valmet is an AK variant and they may have imported some of those before 1974.

There are some that are older than 50 years old…there are some from the 50's-60's that are pretty common.

Built from parts kits on a new receiver. What is the manufacturer of the C&R AKs you are offering?

    I don’t think a c+r is a work around
