The 24 year old daughter of the son I never had, has been diagnosed with multiple cancerous tumors in her liver.

She’s been married a little less than a year. Since high school her goal in life has been dedicated to helping others. She worked with pediatric patients while putting herself through college. She has a contagious smile, and makes friends with those who she comes across.

She donated her ‘stem cells’ in the past so that someone else might live.

She loves time in nature with her father and younger brother, and punching holes in paper with her .243.

My heart is broken.

Don’t lose heart. If they can keep it contained in the liver, a transplant may solve the problem.

My wife developed liver cancer back in 2019 at age 39 after a long fight with an autoimmune disease. They injected a radioactive “seed” into each tumor, which shrunk them and kept them controlled until a liver became available. She received a transplant, and has been doing great since then.

If the docs say that transplant is an option, also consider a living donor. Much easier to match a liver than it is with a kidney or other organ (mainly blood type). No waiting on the list, and both livers grow back to full size in a relatively short time. We were scrambling to screen everyone we could when my wife’s liver became available much earlier than expected. If you have it as an option, start lining up candidates to get checked.

Fair warning….. that process really weeds out those who genuinely care about you from those who SAY they care about you.
