Range Report
Took 4 rifles to the range yesterday.3 were brand new and one I got in a trade. First was a Mossberg Patriot 308.I bought it new for less than 300 bucks with a cheap scope combo.I replaced the scope with a mid grade Bushnell.Best I could get it to do,with 3 different ammos was about 5 inch groups.Very disappointed. Second was a Ruger American Gen2 in 308. First 3 shots 2 inches high,2 inches to the left.A few clicks on the scope=dead on.Easy sight in.Third was a Ruger American 1st Gen 300 Blackout that I had traded for. Very minor scope adjustment and it was dead on. Fourth was a Radical AR-15 that had been in the safe untouched for about 4 years.this one was my biggest surprise.Easy to sight in and with handload 55 grain Hornady softpoint shot sub MOA groups. Now I need to figure out what the Mossberg needs.

Nice shooting, except that Mossberg. A good scrub down, check scope mounts, try again.
I hate to say it since I'm a Mossberg guy, but I've not had much luck with their Patriots. The .350 & the .450 shoot just OK. But the 7/08 is a problem. However, I have an early ATR (essentially the same rifle) that groups like a .270 should.
Got the Patriot in .270 And it is one of my best shooters?
You may check the action screws and see if they are torqued to the correct poundage also. I have a friend who purchased a Savage Axis Pro in 6.5 Creed and it wasn't grouping at all. He called Savage and they told him to check his action screws and torque them to 40lbs per square inch. He had one that was a little loose and when he tightened it to the correct torque it fixed his problem.
Something is loose on the Mossy. But for being under $300 you got what you paid for and it didn't blow up. I call that a double win.
