Hello,
I have found a nice SXS from an estate sale and wanted to find out more about. Date of manufacture and model would be great but I will also appreciate reliable resources to learn more about this firearm. This is my first post so I appreciate the direction and feedback.

Only listing I can find in my reference books is a Ernst Schmidt & Habermann of Shul Germany. Established in 1870 to 1940. Your shotgun Version from 1920-1940

The Crown over the U is an inspection mark, Suhl, Germany, circa 1950. On the other side on the flat is a Crown over W, the proofhouse is also Suhl, Germany, it is a choke bore barrel mark. On the underside of the barrel you have a Crown over an S, that is a black powder proof for smooth bore barrels, it's next to a half bird. The bird or eagle marks from Ulm, Germany, and they should have a letter stamp below each one to define its different proof, I see several different eagle proof marks, and I cannot tell you what exactly they identify. The Nitro stamp on your barrel, it's on two places identifies it as able to use smokeless powder. I have no way to identify pre-1950 German proof marks which your gun may be in. Your gun may be made earlier then come back to a proof house for testing.
