Getting ready to hit the rack in a few minutes…..445 will come fast tomorrow….

I always enjoy opening day. Sitting in a stand and watching the sun begin to come up. The woods become more alive by the minute. It is a good time to reflect on what I have to be thankful and have a good time talking to God about it all….

If you are in the woods hunting tomorrow, be safe, have fun and get a big one !!!

Like a kid at Christmas, I woke up an hour before the alarm buzzer. Breakfast is over and thermos filled and it's still 2 hours until shooting time.

Moon was so bright I could see 100 yards when I got up but not so much now. Conservatively hopeful regarding deer movement this morning. Yesterday while doing chores, I saw more deer than I'd seen in the past week.

Strategy is: only shoot a big buck (we have trail cam pics of three 10-12 pointers near where I'm sitting) or a coyote. Plenty of time to 'harvest meat' later when it's colder.

It was a good day in the woods. I saw two decent bucks. One had too many small trees between me and him so I passed. The other was right at the end of shooting time so I missed out on that one. In between I had over a dozen does within range, a few as close as 25 yards. I am not ready to shoot does yet:

I did have an excellent encounter with a big bobcat. I was in a makeshift ground blind and he appeared right in front of me at about 15 feet. We eyed each other for over thirty seconds before he took off…. They are cool critters

I will go to church in the morning and hit it again tomorrow afternoon ! But soon I will be going to bed because this old Fart is tired out
