My crazy wood pile solution
Locust Fork
Member Posts: 32,053 ✭✭✭✭
We've been building fire in our little fire pit pretty regularly lately. We've got a local guy that sells firewood and I bought a truckload last year that has lasted.
I have it stacked on two pallets with a couple cinder blocks holding boards so it gives me a way to stack it. So far this has worked really well.

Well heck yeah, that'll work. Good job.
S'mor's?
You have a beautiful fireplace and hearth too
We cut and burn 6-8 cord per year depending in how mild the winter is.
The heat from that fire will dry your freshly polished toenails in half the time! 😁
Hickory sick, hot dogs and beers. Is what's missing.
I used steel fence post from Tractor Supply, but the same idea.
P.S. Toes looking good. 😁
For the longest time I was not a fan of sitting outside by the fire, just because it meant I'd have to wash my hair. Now that I'm a crusty old broad I don't care that I smell like a campfire everywhere I go.
if you turn the last split piece sideways and the end of the stack/row, you can then run the next row all in line alternating the end two pieces to square the row. no stakes needed to keep the pile standing. you can only do this with split pieces as the round ones will roll and not hold a square end………
Looks perfect to me. Love the toes.
Its all kinds of things in there….fallen branches from our Oak trees, some of the magnolia that we had cut down…..mostly split pecan and oak with a bit of cherry in there. We have a lot of trees around us, so there is always some sort of "picking up" to do around the place. If it seems like it will burn in the little campfire it gets tossed in the pile. There are some logs that should be split in there….but I figure I'd leave them for now in case we want to build a larger fire one night.
Funny note…..I am HORRIBLE at starting a fire. Larry can do it with no problem. Since I start a fire pretty often without him being here to help, I've purchased LOTS of those fire starter log things. The little ones are quite handy.
Thank you! I go get a pedicure here and there as a way to get away from EVERYTHING for just a minute. A nice hour long foot rub while sitting in a massage chair is the best way to turn off the noise of the world.
