What is the largest number of people that you regularly get together with?

Locust ForkLocust Fork Member Posts: 32,053 ✭✭✭✭

We have a small group that gets together at least once a week. Its typically 4 to 6 people, we will pick a random mid-grade food place to meet up at. My brother's house is perfect for larger groups, so if we have any kind of event we will have it at his place. The layout of his home has plenty of seating and larger rooms where you can roam around and visit with various people….including the large covered back deck. What I do NOT enjoy is a dinner get together with more than 6 or so people. If you have a LONG table full of people its impossible to hear half of what anyone is saying….you may as well split up into smaller tables.

Somehow, our get together tonight has grown into a TWELVE PERSON dinner event. UGGGGH!!!

Air Force dinner group 5 - 6, Ford Motor breakfast group 12 - 15. We recently had a 90th birthday family party at a restaurant and sat at a long table as you described. You could only talk to the person next to you or across from you.

Twenty two years ago I was privileged to join a bunch of guys numbering 17. I made it 18. Today there is only two of us left out of the original group. We would meet at the local fast food joint on Wednesday mornings for about an hour and a half for coffee, laughs and solving of the world's problems. Occasionally we would all meet for a nice dinner somewhere and include the wives. Today there is only six of us, four of whom are relative newbies and we carry on the tradition. Not having much luck solving the world's problems though.

We do the big family things for the holidays/birthdays, etc., but it’s just a check in the block.

An enjoyable outing…no more than six.

    I am along with joe

My wife and I family's use to have some what large get togethers on holidays when 1st married we split he day between both or families it was a long day to g to both families to visit and eat. Socialize

But over time, most all have all passed on in both families

Nowadays, we may go to her sisters about 4 or 5 people . But she got divorced, so that group is out of the picture

Our two sons' work schedules hurt just us getting together, but we try

Basic now, just the wife and assorted pets

So, like Joe, I will say my GB family ) if like me or not Ist like a real family LOL) over time as become my large group

We miss the family members may they all RIP and all shared times and stories together, but time waits on no one

It seems another tradition that has slowly disappeared for most loss of members and busy schedules

    Just Memories now

We had fun last night, but I was in the middle of the long table…constantly turning my head left and right to talk to each end of the group. It was me, Larry, my sister, her husband, two of their sons, my aunt, a cousin, two long time family friends. We all agreed that we need to pick a less busy night to meet at the Mexican place we went to. It was BUSY there last night and our crowd was one of several large groups that met up there all at the same time….along with the couples and families trying to get dinner there.

Three times a week I go to a health club. Maybe 20 or so people I have discussions with every time!! One of them told me if I didn't talk so much I could get out of there in 20 minutes😜

Aside from at home family members, I do most of my socializing at the grocery store.
