Sad Story From the Flood

This is 40 miles east from where I live. The extent of the damage from this storm is mind-boggling.

This couple had worked hard to pay off their nice brick home early. Didn't have flood insurance. They had brand new central heat a/c which cost $8 Grand. A contractor said it would cost $200 Grand to rebuild the house, that is just on the structure, to say nothing about the furniture, refrigerator etc. FEMA is offering them $18,000. They're living in a camper in their front yard.

They are just one of many. Folks in tents in many hard hit areas not far from here.

Can you say below freezing weather?

    FEMA is a joke

I feel for the people loose ever

Thing in one shot at least they lived

It's sad the couple did not have at least basic insurance but I understand $$$ has a lot to do with that it's a gamble more people are taking due to crazy insurance cost

With luck and a lot of strangers helping maybe like a go fund me but I will wager so many go fund accounts have been added due to all the storms

Sadly, people build/buy homes and businesses in places where such disasters can/will happen now and then.

I've been part of the relief effort, as much as I can.

I can say that the locals are saving lives and helping people.

FEMALE, and the us government are literally in the way and stopping every good thing we're doing.

I've heard of atleast one instance, their land was washed away. There's nothing to rebuild upon.

No fema trailer? Also the fema $18K I'm assuming the $750 is in the mix already? I doubt Trump will kick in more money. Sad times. But maybe biden-flation will drop so the build will only cost $150K?

As usual most of the people that get the government handouts, Fema in this case, are not the ones most deserving. It amazes me on some of these farm handouts when I get online and see who got what an how much and the deserving folks got very little.

A neighbor has oil tanker trucks and is hooked up with FEMA. He was approved to send three oil tanker trucks to Florida, the drivers stayed in a hotel three weeks and the trucks never moved while there at $4000 a day each truck.

The government usually just screws it up and adds to the 35 trillion debt.
