Bucky Attacked my Chestnut Tree!

I planted this tree 4 years ago. It cost $49. It is fifteen feet tall. I have been taking care of it and it would have begun producing nuts in a year or two. Yesterday, it was assaulted by a deer. This tree is out in my yard right next to my driveway, 100 feet from my house.

Yikes, looks pretty well trashed.
I say that REVENGE is in order! Besides, I like venison more than I like chestnuts. 😁
That bites. I've seen other saplings survive similar damage but I don't know about a chestnut tree.
Get some tree wrap on it asap, might be able to save it.
I have killed quite a few whitetails, including 4 or 5 with my TC Hawken. The .50 round ball is a deer slayer. THis year I wanted to leave them alone. Deer season started yesterday but I wanted a season of peace and harmony with the furry forest denizens. But no, you turn your back on 'em and they start ruining your trees.
That happened to one of our Ash trees maybe 10 years ago. It survived and is doing just fine.
I hope the little tree makes it. I have seen plenty of trees out in the woods that survived but only time will tell
Should've protected the sapling better.
