If viewing this rifle from the "Rear Buttstock" which "Direction" does one push the old front sight out of the Dovetail so it doesn't damage things.

    The general rule is to the right, looking down the barrel from the butt stock. The dovetail is cut with a slight taper to facilitate the sight insertion. Good luck.

    I agree with navc130: to the right. A sight pusher would be helpful but I've tapped out many such sights using a light hammer and a brass drift punch. a drop or 2 of light oil, like Kroil, left to set overnight doesn't hurt, either.
