The Sommer Und Ockenfuss got new glass.
I wanna say two Black Fridays or maybe it was last year? I bought a Shepherd BRS 4-16X44. Mounted but never went to the range. I was waiting for California to come back to their senses on ammo background check silliness to go away. Coming to realization it might be permanent. Anyways I found a lighted reticle Leupold LR/T 3.5-10X40 for sale. Just couldn't pass up since I've seen them go up in price by $100 a year for a few years.
So the take off Shepherd got mounted on the Bushmaster Varminter. A much better upgrade than the Vortex Diamondback 4-12 that was on top before. The Sommer got somewhat period correct glass now. The new one has the button battery cell unlike the other one. I guess there were changes between "U" run to "V". The "U" goes to 11 in brightness and the "V" only goes up to 8 and won't turn completely around. So I have to go back the way I came to turn off. Yes it does have in between off but it's a dot and not off. Speaking of illumination until I hit like 5 (on both scopes) the lower settings are useless unless it's pitch black.
Initially I bought this scope for my AR10/308 build but I just couldn't take the Vortex PST off for the test. I thought for a while (like a day) then came to the conclusion that it was silly just for a "test". I wanted to do a side by side test between my factory M25 and the Yoshmyster built AR10/308 with same scope. I know what you're thinking why not just swap it? California has a silly background check to buy ammo and I don't wanna waste more ammo to re-zero after I get done.
20+ years in the works. Done.

What yer neighbors think of ya? You got some high dollar equipment there.
My neighbor thinks (or at least I think they think) of me as a anti-social man to avoid. Because I don't talk to them so when the time comes they'll say to the investigators "he was quiet and hardly seen him".
You think they're high dollar gear? Perhaps they appreciated in price over the years. I suppose the M25 is (ate many a Top Ramen and sold a few guns to pay for that).
