Might want to try and build your own. I have been searching for plans for a small one I can build in my back yard. Most rednecks around here use an old refrigirator. Sometimes it blends nicely with all the broke down cars in thier back yards.

Nope. I have seen several folks around here use an old refrigirator. Not my first choice for this use.

...If you don't do a lot of smoking, I'd get one of the "bullet" shaped ones. These are esay for someone who does/has not, smoked a lot. They cost around $50-$75. If you do not use it a lot, or don't grill a lot, they have 'em in electric also, no charcoal, just wood chips for the eletric.

...If you do plan on smokin alot, get a good heavy steel gauge one with a seperate fire box. Mine will hold more meat than I ever put on it, but I "stole" it. You can ck locally, some welding shop folks do em on the side, this time of year, for a "real" smoker, you may have to go on the net, as a lot of places that carry some real good ones, Acadamy Sports for one, won't have a good selection again till spring.

...If your not going to use it like I do mine, every week, the first one I mentioned will last, and is good for the money. I will also look around for some unreal, simple plans for a great smoker I have.

...Drill, saber saw, a little scavange hunt...and about $75 bucks later you have nice looking smoker that you can operate easily, smoke up to probably 65-75 lbs. of meat, or ONE chicken...OR GRILL TWO hamburger patties, it really is a kick butt home made smoker, that will play with the big boys. If/when I find the plans I will get them to you,if you want, it's super simple, but is so versitile, and inexspensive too...
...texasd.gif...oh yeah, for fish, a mild wood like apple works great...[;)]
