My favorite time to fish is just before a good rain storm.

...right before a front is usually really good. When the front moves thru, they really turn off quick. Caught a 7+ in between severe thunder storm, hail and a tornado!

Overcast with a little chop late in the day. If you can add a light rain with a stormfront coming, you just about can't keep a lure in the water if you're on top of them, can you?[8D]

But the next morning/day is apt to be kind of dead if it's a good storm isn't it?[:(]

Fish'n in a tornado. Now there is an idea. When we were kids I had a buddy who's Dad was a junk dealer. He came home with a load of junk one day which included a small amount of Carbide. Let me tell ya, Now there is the makings of a good fishing lure. I just wish our local Game warden would have had sence of humor.

I have found that for catfish, before a thunder storm works. Along with other fish.

When the ice first comes off.
    When the ice is on.
    Night
    Any other time

I wonder if those conditions would work best for channel cats. We have some of the around here.

Thats what I have caught. And it always seems that the storms are coming from the west directly and I am fishing on the east side of the lake so the water is moving in on that side of the lake. I just crush the channel cats with these conditions and have down probably 20 or more times. And when I say right before a thunder storm, its usually 3-4 hours before right up to where you have to take your poles out of the water. And most of my incounters like this have come between 8-10 at night, I did do it once in late afternoon that I can remember.

I like to fish whenever I can get out and do it...My best luck has been just before or during rain.
