I got a deal on a 9.9hp Honda 4 stroke. What is the minimum size aluminum boat this will go on? (I have a 10' with oars.)

That would be a lot of motor for a 10' boat. On a 14 foot aluminum boat 4HP is plenty.

...should have a "weight rating" tag on the transom? I'd think 10 hp might be a little much for ten footer, ought to scoot pretty good though! I would not put a 10 on anything smaller than 14ft, maybe 16ft. Flat or V bottom would make a difference. Flat: 16', V prob 14'.

...oh yeah, very important...it's not how big your boat is, it's how you fish with it...[;)]...[}:)]

I agree with bloviator. 14' or 16'. Check the manufacturer's rating on the boat. Remember 4 strokers are heavier than 2 strokes.
Honda is a great motor, good choice on your part.

12' should be just about right for a 9.9 4stroke Honda. But then it depends on how big a lake you are fishing and how the winds are. If you get a lot of white caps you need a 14' boat. I've got a 14' that I ran a 15 Evenrude on for 10 years. Put a 20 hp 4 stroke Honda on it last spring and just love it.

I use a 15 hp Evinrude on a 14' v-bottom. It will get up on plane nicely to cover some area and will throttle down to troll, although I also often hang a 1 1/2 hp Johnson on a flip down mount to use when I want to troll for walleyes for a long time. I would think that 9.9 hp would do real well on a 12 footer, and not too badly on a 14.
