What would be the better choice for surf fishing. Bait cast or spin cast? My budjet is in the 50.00-100.00 range.

I would go with the spin cast.

I agree, spin cast for surf fishing, all my boat rods have bait cast reels on them though. It's nice to have a 10'+ rod with a large reel to let you cast longer distances too.
