GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. A new study shows that trace amounts of pharmaceutical drugs are leaving Grand Rapids' wastewater treatment plant for the Grand River.

Some of the drugs, which include birth-control hormones, anti-seizure medication and even caffeine, are showing up in Lake Michigan and in the city's drinking water.

Scientists believe the drugs are too dilluted to pose a risk to humans. But they're concerned about the possible impact on fish and other wildlife.

A state toxicologist says Ann Arbor and Monroe have also conducted similar tests that also turned up traces of drugs in surface waters.

Officials are using the test results to urge people not to flush unused medications down the toilet.

The Itchetucknee river - as well as most of the springs around here in N FL - show traces of anti-depressants, various birth control hormones, and viagra.

I think the viagra is needed - that water is darn cold (72 year 'round)
