im thinking about getting a boat and seeing used 14-16 footers fore sale in local papers and online. nothing fancy maybe a flat back canoe or a v hull aluminum boat. something that can hold 3-4 people for tooling around on some local lakes. so question is how big of a trolling motor would i need to get. there measured in lbs thrust correct? i see one thats been used 3 or 4 times and has 27lbs thrust for 175 bucks? would something like that be big enough?

It could be enough. You must do the math and be specific. Its a matter of physics and the reality of older vs new motors. Unless its a gas engine you must try it B4 you buy. The older electric motors for the most part dont have it...
