I was looking at purchasing a used "Gamefisher 15" outboard motor, made for Sears. Anybody know if this is a good motor to have? .Or does it have any major flaws?

They are not that bad a motor. Of course Sears did not make them. I think they were made by Evinrude. I had a 5hp one years ago on the back of a 12' jon boat that ran great for many years.

If all possible check for compression. They can run great out of the water with the dog ears on but if compression is bad it will not have any power under a load.

Yep, they were "John-Rudes". If it's a 1073 of older it has "3-ring" pistons in it and may last another 40 years,if it's been run in freshwater only..[:D]
