Freshwater- close call between a 9 pound Walleye and similar sized channel cat... gonna go with the catfish though as he was a little longer for the weight.
I once tied into something on Lake Erie that calmly bent my walleye rod right in half and popped the 10 pound line like nobody's business. I had the drag set properly too, to start, but he was pulling it off so quickly it was coming near the end of the line so I had to tighten it up, and POP.....had to be a burbot, muskie, or sturgeon.
110 lb swordfish In the Salt
35 lb King Salmon
18 lb Chum Salmon in Fresh
90 lb yellowfin tuna
Now there is a fight! Tuna are the hardest fighting fish I have ever caught. I have not hit the 90 mark yet, but several in the 70-80 range.
Yes those are some backbreakers. Got that one with a live squid. Odly enough the same one I caught the swordfish on earlier that nite.
37" Northern on an Ultralite with 4# test. That took almost 20 minutes to pull off.
40" Sand shark is the biggest thing I have caught in Salt water. But I have only been about to fish in the ocean 6 times in my life
My largest fish is a 49" pike. Didnt weigh it because i released it.
