I'll be in Gulf Shores Al. the 1st Week of May

There is a fishing pier in the park.
I'm know farm pond bass & catfish fishing but not much about ocean fishing.
What can be caught at that time of year from the pier?
Can I use my baitcaster rods & reels?
Anyone have any tips?

    You may be able to rent a spinning rod at the pier, or you could pick up a combo made for surf or pier fishing. When you get there, take a walk down and see what the local's are doing.
