Reelfoot Lake---Tennessee

..We're planning on going to Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee in the middle
of July this year. We usually go north to MN or Wisconsin. We're staying on the north side of the lake. Anyone have any tips on what to use or where to try? We're partial to live bait but open to suggestions.
..I know July isn't usually a prime time, but what do I know? Any thoughts anyone?...Thanks

did that one year, vowed never to do again..basically fishing becomes like fall deer hunting in residential areas. 1st and last hours of daylight... the heat and humidity is just plum painful. water levels are down and you are confined to using the boat paths if you travel to a different are. fiberglass hulled boats are not advised at low water times. the crappie bite was sporadic at best, and even a guide will be pressed to deliver a limit of 12inch + fish..expect lots of short fish.. bluegills can be great if you hit spawning beds, but july is getting late on that too. largemouth bass is limited to fishing the lily pads with scum frogs or silver spoons altho we took a few on plastic worms around the duck blinds. those box shaped things brush covered with 1000s of snakes draped all over them[:0][:0][:0][:0] reelfoot is best fished in january and february...

oh 1 other thing. there are 2 ways to fish Reelfoot at night. 1...buy every bug repellent known to man and use it....or just dont shower for 3 days like the locals..[xx(] and never use your personal boat at night there..
