    I'm not one and will show my ignorance here, but I was curious and wondered if you were referring to the crews that flew the coastline with side looking radar to identify enemy movement and positions? I'm probably wrong, but I'm just curious since I don't remember those missions being referred to by that name during AI briefings.

    I was part of the backend crew of the E2-B Hawkeye and we would occasionally work with crews flying missions of that type and we would vector available strike aircraft to hit the targets quickly.
