Never let the appeal lapse on your claim, if you do the "pay" starts all over from when you open or refile, if you never let it lapse it pays from the first day of when you opened your claim. Always try to update or increase a lower % rating.
A good website for help is www.hadit.com it is a Vet-tovet website and gives all the steps to filing and forms, it also tells you what to expect in the claim process.
One other thing is to take your signifcant other with you to all hearings as their statements weigh more than a doctors.
Also statements of support from those that knew you before, during and after your service. Their is a form that the statements have to be attached to and it can be found on hadit. com (statement in support of claim).
