i served in desert shield and storm. i was a door gunner with 1/89 xv111 airborne corps. we took took the troops (82nd airborne) to the battles from rahfa and kkmc. we were at the peace talks, we some shrapnal as we flew away. we rescued some kuwaities from the ice cream republican guard. they can running to us crying to save them. we fed them and took them to safety. i gave a 10 year old boy my pocket knife. the grandfather had to okay it first. the boy was so happy. i have never seen anyone so happy. i know why i was there and why we are there. we know. we understand.
Desert Storm - 31st ADA Brigade, Fort Hood, TX. Our Bn was he only full Bn left on post. Never left the States.

Desert Shield/Storm: 947th Medical Company, Clearing, KKMC. During the shooting, we saw most of the banged-up folks coming off medevac birds and fixed-wings landing at the airfield at KKMC. After the cease-fire, if you went on sick call on KKMC, you probably saw one of our docs.
I was Headquarters Platoon Leader. Spent most of my time in the motor pool, in Supply, or running around the AO in a five-ton.

USS New Orleans LPH-11, bobbing for sea mines. Thank god we never found one like the Tripoli. Worked engineering, A-gang. I was in charge of the Machine shop. Did a lot of work to keep her steaming back to San Diego after it was all over!
USAF C-17 loadmaster 7th AS and 10th AS out of McChord. I was in from 2000-2004, fully qualled and blessed to operate 3months before 911... Hell of a way for a dumb airman to cut teeth.
