Lois Lerner is in contempt of Congress

"Members voted 231-187 to find Lerner in contempt, a vote that saw six Democrats join Republicans. ", does this make it bi-partisan?

"A few Democrats accused the GOP of employing McCarthy-era tactics in pursuing Lerner so aggressively with the contempt vote. "I will not walk a path that has been tread by Senator McCarthy in the House Un-American Activities Committee," said Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee." (My footnote: House Un-American Activities Committee was created in 1938 by the Democrat controlled House)

"In a separate vote, the House also approved a resolution calling on Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special counsel to investigate the targeting scandal. The House passed this language 250-168 - 26 Democrats joined the GOP in that vote."

"Because Department of Justice officials have already leaked that they are unlikely to prosecute anyone in the case, Republicans say Justice has lost all objectivity in the case, and that a special counsel is needed"

OH well, not going to learn anything new, nobody will be prosecuted. Might as well save money and MOVE ON.

Exerting the constitutional right to not testify has been upheld by the courts since the McCarthy era.
This is nothing more that "grandstanding" by the Republicans on the committee. They want to return to the witch hunting days in order to appeal to their constitutionally ignorant base.

The 5th in a Judicial court is and should be unquestionable.

A Congressional Oversight Hearing is not a Judicial Court. There is a question as to making an opening statement ( I didn't do it) and then claiming the 5th is a conflict. We should let the courts work this out.

Government employees are required to cooperate with oversight committees. This is for policy making, creating /revising laws, as well as wrong doing.

Just because DOJ won't do its job is no sign Congress should not do its job.....and they voted her in contempt which is about all they can do. But Holder will do nothing as his contempt citation (the first time Congress has held the AG in contempt!) is going nowhere.....in the "most transparent adm in history"....what a hoot from POTUS!
He is the "Academia" POTUS...Prof., Dr., Prof.again, and finally DOBF in Saudi Arabia...Has 15 law degrees and one Marijuana degree...[:o)]
