Info from a friend in the intel business

Our government does not spy on itself or on American citizens. Ask anyone in gov't, and they will tell you the same thing. Of course, it's BS, but hey, that's the way the game is played.
Keeping that in mind, I was recently chatting with a friend who is still in the intelligence business. He told me something interesting about information being requested by various gov't staffers known to do the occasional job for the White House (so that the WH can maintain deniability).
It seems that they are working on profiles of prisoners in Gitmo.
Huh?
They are preparing (or have already prepared) summaries of the lives and sins of these cockroaches: i.e., curriculum vitae of the most dangerous terrorists on Earth. The people requesting and receiving the information were particularly interested in family information such as children, spouse, siblings, etc.
There are two probable explanations for this. First, the Justice Department could be preparing to prosecute them.
Unlikely.
The other explanation is that the WH is preparing the information for applications and justifications for pardons by the president.
It is customary for outgoing presidents to sign a few pardons for deserving criminals or un-indicted sinners. Remember the furor when Clinton pardoned his half-brother?
The speculation in at least part of the gov't is that the Prez is planning (plotting) to pardon all of the Muslim terrorists now in Guantanamo when he leaves office in two years.
How likely is this?

By the way, remember the Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl swap for five (5) Gitmo terrorists? It turns out now that the WH had earlier tried to ransom him, but the ransom money was stolen by an Arab supposedly helping with the negotiations. What a laugh! Obama violates his own rules about dealing with terrorists, and then gets ripped-off by one of his Muslim "brothers"! Is there no honor in Allah Land?

At the rate the prisoners at Gitmo are being released (release several today) he won't have any left to pardon at the end of his term "if" he steps aside when the time comes [;)]
