But at what cost?

It's hard to believe, but there are still some regular citizens singing the praises of King Barack. The following is a quote from a column by Weldon Payne, published in the Manchester Times, November 19, 2014 edition. www.manchestertimes.com

"Is it still a secret that Obama came into office with two ragged wars raging? Does anyone remember that this nation was hit in 2008 with the worst economic nightmare since the Great Depression? Yes, still too many without work, but isn't unemployment now at less than six percent? How much longer will attempts be made to scuttle Obama's Affordable Health Care that has provided insurance for millions of Americans who had no hope beforehand?"

I ask the author, what is the gain if a war is ended by surrendering after we have paid for victory with our nation's blood and wealth?

What good is a lower unemployment figure if it was bought with nearly a trillion dollars of our wealth and achieved only by driving many of the unemployed out of the job-seeking market?

How great a favor have we done for the millions of people who lost their healthcare insurance in order to provide subsidized insurance to others who could not or would not work to provide their own? How many families that are paying less does it take to justify the families that are paying more, much more?

How many people will lose the healthcare plan they like, the doctor they like, despite the explicit promises of a president (king, emperor) who said they would be able to keep their plans and doctors?

How many broken promises will we accept from our so-called leaders before we realize that the government that should be serving us is serving only itself?

The cost is too much, particularly when we have no say as to whether we wish to pay it or not.
