waco, the article you posted the link to does not demonstrate what you think it does, or what it obtusely claims to.
There is a difference between a mortality rate, and a morbidity rate.
Trying to claim that a mortality rate proves that diphtheria was decreasing may be accurate.
Or maybe not.
It is the wrong tool to use to try to prove that, unless diphtheria has a case fatality rate (cfr) of 100%.
It doesn't.
But pseudo-science is kind of like honey badger....he don't care.
Tell what, check the Dr.s research and get back to me in the morning.
