I think he should have waited 4 years.

I also think he shouldn't have signed that stupid letter to Iran, as it was a knee-jerk and childish statement. I would have thought him smart enough to leave that one be, and such petulance may just be a deal breaker for me.

He should be able to hold his own, and it is good to see a more libertarian type being taken seriously in the GOP and the national media, though he has muddled his message somewhat to be more attractive to the establishment types.

He will add to the mix to be sure.

I like almost everything he seems to stand for, save one: his foreign policy.

Burying our heads in the sand isn't the right answer. Right now the enemies of the US see us as weak. The way to fix that isn't to pull back even more and just live in glorious isolation, the way to fix that is to have an unapologetic interventionist foreign policy.

No, I'm not saying we should stick our heads in every hellhole out there. I'm saying that we build our military to the point that we CAN maintain a presence on the Korean peninsula in Europe, and STILL (if needed) successfully attack Iran.

Keep Russia, China, and North Korea from getting any stupid ideas, and deal with the hornet's nest that is Iran.

His foreign policy and tax cuts were pretty much the only 2 things Bush did that I liked.

I think he's going to lead the people on, i.e. raise the money for a cause as similar to that of his father as possible, but then say and do whatever is necessary to be accepted by the GOP's leaders and their money sources.
    What's next?

Rand Paul has moved well away from the non-interventionist position of this father, jonk. Some view it as a sell-out to the establishment so that he will be taken seriously. Others view it as him learning a bit of reality during his time in the Senate. Either way, one is hard-pressed to suggest that Rand Paul advocates a head-in-the-sand foreign policy in his current form.

If the establishment is against him then I'm for him! Sadly,he'll be blackballed and ignored by the media and his party whores.

Nope I don't think he will either but he might bring some interesting things out in the debates and force the milk toast candidates to declare positions on issues they would ordinarily avoid.

That's the truth and that's one reason the Republican party will be defeated again in 2016. Thick headed "good old boys".

I think he has about as much a chance to win as I do. As of right now, I'm a Ben Carson fan. Each candidate has something I like though.

You might want to do a little research on Dr. Carson's 2nd Amendment stance. It ain't real purty...

If he were in a position of national leadership, Carson said he would seek to allow people to possess any kind of weapon they can legally buy, including "automatic weapons and semi-automatic weapons."
Supposedly he had made a comment before that was taken out of context. He supports 2nd Amendment.

Rand is half the man his father is, yet he will get twice the votes because of his pandering nature.[xx(]

No thanks on Rand. I'll pass.

He has had some good talking points on the 4th amendment, but of late he has turned to appeal to the establishment and old republican think..

I see him as a small beacon of hope for the republican party.

He and Ted Cruise should have fun beating up each other for the extremist vote. The Republican primary should be the best dog and pony show in years.

Most men lie their way into the white house to destroy America. What if Rand is lying his way in to then turn around and save it?
