Are We a Democracy or a Republic...What?
I keep hearing people saying that Trump should not be President because he did not win the Popular Vote...After all we are a Democracy, right? The Majority Rules, Right?...Wrong! Are we a Democracy or a Republic...
By definition, a Democracy is a government in which power is vested in the people who rule either directly or through freely elected representatives; the Majority Rules
By definition, a Republic is a government in which the supreme power rests in the body of it?s Citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by Representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them.; Government of the People, by the people and for the People.
Our Founding Fathers did not give us a Democracy nor did they give us a Republic. What they did give us is a Democratic Republic.
Which by definition is; A country that is both a republic and a democracy. It is one where ultimate authority and power is derived from the citizens. However, in practice countries that describe themselves as democratic republics do not always hold free or fair elections.?
The latter sentence above, demands the establishment of our Electoral College which allows the Citizens of the 50 States to elect our Presidents and not just the majorities abiding in a few major cities...it works perfectly for the purpose it was designed
Additionally, in their wisdom, our Founding Fathers put together three independent Branches of Government, Congress which makes the laws, the Executive branch which enforces the Laws and the Judicial Branch which determines the Legality of the Laws and their Enforcement. This prevents the establishment of an Oligarchy or Dictatorship.
In Reality , we as a Nation, have probably evolved from a Democratic Republic into a Constitutional Democracy, a productive civic engagement requiring knowledge of the history, principles and foundations of our American democracy...which brings me to the purpose of this Email...
Our Nation is severely divide and confused simply because they take the spewing's of the Major Media as truth or gospel...it is important that people Know What They Believe and more Importantly, that they Know Why They Believe as they do.
This URL, compliments of 1911-A1 Fan below gives a great lesson in History which defines What We Are and How we Got Here as a Nation

Every time I see mobs taking to the streets taking to the streets destroying property, attacking others that disagree with them, I can only think of one term to describe them...Anarchists.
By definition, an Anarchist a person that rebels against authority, established order or ruling power, a person that advocates anarchism; especially one who uses violent means to overthrow the established order.
When you see or hear an elected official advocating the maintenance of Sanctuary Cities, refusing to up hold existing rules of law regarding illegal immigration, what do you call them?
When you see mobs of people in the streets protesting some issue/issues (real or imagined), blocking traffic, preventing others from exercising their right to free passage or bullying those people that disagree with them, what do you call them?
Are they not Anarchists ,only differing in the extremes of their actions? Are they not breaking the Rules of Law and , by doing so, should they not be held responsible for their actions? I think that they are Anarchists and should be held accountable...why? Because I am a Constitutionalist .
I believe in the Rules of Law established by our Constitution. My belief is based on the description of Constitutionalism which is a complicated concept, deeply embedded in historical experience, which subjects the officials who exercise governmental powers to the limitations of a higher law. Constitutionalism proclaims the desirability of the rule of law as opposed to rule by the arbitrary judgment or mere fiat of public officials ...
