Where is BP when we need them!?

Hurricanes get most of their energy from evaporating seawater to prevent the evaporation just have a BP ship leak a thin layer of oil over the water in front of the storms.

Come on BP!
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Glad you brought up evaporation. Since water evaporates faster at warmer temps, do you suppose it is a by product of global warming?

When air mass rises, something has to fill the void of the air mass rising. Big winds and storms, then when the heavily damp air hits the particulate from pollution, it releases the energy and water drops form and fall.

Water temp increase of .5? could have huge effects on weather patterns.

Carbon footprint of the industrialized world is changing the temp.

But there will be those who claim we have no effect on the planet, and to them I say, "pull your head out".

the earth has undergone temp changes as long as its been here. its just the in thing right now to talk about global warming like we can do something about it. gives people a cause I guess. good luck to those who think they can lower the temp of the earth. or raise it for that matter.

That's what they blamed to 1935 bemoth with 180MPH+ winds on, right? They also blamed one not hitting the USA for that past 10 years on that to, right?

I wish they would put a box on income tax forms. if you believe in global warming check here. then your money can be taken to fix it. if you think its a bunch of crap. check here. you can keep your money and use it for real things. I bet the crowd that believes in it would shrink dramatically. same as that ice age that was gonna hit in the 70,s.

i'm leaning towards those 2,000 holes we put in the Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere with above ground nuclear testing before it was banned, we will never know why they actually banned it , all we know is there was a reason

sure as hell wasn't aerosol cans and vehicle emissions

eons ago huge masses of vegetation died and rotted to form hydrocarbons in vast quantities...ice formed and grew away from the poles and retreated...strange and huge animals came and went...so will al gore

Here's a test to find out whether ordinary humans can change the weather.
How long would it take to raise the average global temp by 3 degrees?
    How would it be accomplished?
Would doing the opposite change/reduce existing temps?
Exactly how much would either cost?

Moving this to Politics. Not because it's political, but because CaptFun said he would like all topics involving silly conspiracy theories moved there.

No topic is sillier than that of humans causing climate change.

Actually the topic had NOTHING to due with Humans causing climate change, some of the posters added in that all by themselves.

The topic while somewhat poking fun at BP is regarding the actual science that is currently being studied to reduce the heat of evaporation of sea water in regards to Hurricanes but hey you don't have a science Forum so move it to something else.

A light film of oil over the sea water preventing evaporation into the storm is possibly feasible, especially if the oil were biodegradable.

Climate change is more good than bad.

Heartland Institute says more CO2 is good for the planet

The group points to increased plant and forest growth, bigger crop yields and longer growing seasons as benefits derived from rising concentrations of carbon dioxide.

In South America, on the equator, never heard anyone mention "climate change". You can put a dead stick in the ground and grow a tree. (Almost).

The real problem, that's being solved w/o lots of "Media" is air and water pollution but it would be hard to "suck" Trillions of Dollars from the U.S. beating that drum. Plus: You can take pictures !!! Define when, where and why it's happening.

Nope: Better to spread propaganda based on something "nebulous" and get the U.S. to take a big financial hit. While other countries get a free ride.

That is true but making a bet they would keep paying dividends in mid 2010 and early 2016 seems a good buy. Dividend payout has been 6% +. Brits have BP stock in their personal and company retirements. BP is of strategic / vital interest to Britain and BP gets their help.

$10,000 invested June of 2010 would be worth $16,000 today. $6,000 interest Plus a 4 point price increase. Not exactly good but could be worse.
