sorry i should give a little backfround: opinion by john lott on gun free zones and the media not mentioning that highly unimportant(sarcasm) fact when reporting about shootings and possiblities why the shooter chose those particular venues.

I don't remember any of those deranged shooters, looking for multiple victims to shoot, going on a rampage in a police station or gun shows. There are also a surprisingly small (if any) number of gun shops where the bad guys attack with guns.

Simply put, bad guys with guns do not want to meet good guys with guns.

Guns were invented for the use of peaceful, lawful people to hunt, do recreational shooting and SELF DEFENSE. Just because the bad guys have decided long ago to use guns for evil, is no reason to pass laws that only are obeyed by the good guys. Good guys who are not even causing the problem to begin with.

If the anti-gun side really believed that passing more laws would put a stop to gun crime by criminals, the anti-gun side would push for one more law. That law being "if a person with a violent criminal history misuses a firearm even once, then the sentence is mandatory life in prison or perhaps even a mandatory death sentence." If new laws worked to control gun crime, then that law should be able to do it.

BUT CRIMINALS DO NOT OBEY LAWS. That is why there is a crime problem.

yet you continually debate the merits of gun control measures currently in existence. yet by your own words reveal the truth - criminals do not obey gun laws. So how have the laws you and those like you support done anything to keep guns out the possesion of the criminal element? As it stands RIGHT NOW the only ones obeying gun laws are "the good guys", the only ones who have it more difficult when it comes to purchasing guns are "the good guys" yet you voice support for laws that INFRINGE on amendment II........ go fig.

good post Tr, sort of. your mindset is still off kilter....

Guns were invented for making war, and in the case of the good guys, to throw off tyranny.

I would have given the post more credit except that TR has come in time and time again and said things similar to, I believe in gun rights except for these people or those people. Oh and I think you should have to have registration or permission to own this or that. And some of that not at all. After all resonable gun laws are for our protection.

Of course if he has changed his stance and has come to see the light, then hey great. But if not, I think that tomorrow we could just as easily see the same old stuff that some gun laws are good and should be enforced without exception.
