HR 45

wittynbearwittynbear Member Posts: 4,518
I just got a letter from the nra today stating that they are needing money to fight HR 45, I know HR 45 had no sponsors and was not expected to make it out of committee. Does anyone know if HR 45 is up for a vote now, or is this just a desperate attempt by the nra to get money?

I figured as much, people are not donating like they used to because of the economy and the nra's mediocre record, so they have to get money any way they can suck it up, looks like they are getting into the fear tactics arena too. I guess they think my $35 a year is not enough, but the way I figure it $35 allows me to shoot at my local range and gives me discounts at hotels. It really pays for itself. I will send them more money when they start to push for the gun laws I want. Which is none. If I have the money and want to I should be able to have a 155mm Howitzer in my back yard with no poop from the government.

I SAW A POST THAT WORRIES ME. IT'S THIS KIND OF TALK THAT ALLOWS CONGRESS TO TAKE MORE OF OUR RIGHTS. NO IT'S NOT JUST ANOTHER NRA FUNDRAISER.

HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.

Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:

    .It is registered
    .You are fingerprinted
.You supply a current Driver's License
.You supply your Social Security #
.You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing
.Each update - change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25
    - Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.

.There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18.

The Government would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

If you think this is a joke - go to the website and take your pick of many options to read this..
    http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h45/text

It is long and lengthy. But, more and more people are becoming aware of this. Pass the word along.

FAILURE TO DO SO AT YOUR PERIL!

Any hunters in your family - pass this along.

Indeed it is another NRA fundraiser, and the Congress/Senate will take more of our rights, no matter how many NRA baseball caps you finance the manufacture of. HR 45 will die in committee exactly the same way that all of the more ridiculous bills have done. It has zero co-sponsors.

There are 6 or so extreme far-left nutballs in the US Senate that will support it, but most of the lying pukes in DC are smart enough to know that, if they want to keep their jobs, they will keep the gun-control nonsense somewhat reined in.

In my opinion, we need to watch these things. Especially now with a majority of socialists in charge of our 'government'.

That said, I let my NRA membership lapse several years ago use to, what appears to me, a lack of real effort on their part, to truely represent conservative, gun owners.

There have been several issues where the NRA conceded or made deals that weakened our psoition.

I much prefer the GOA - Gun Owners of America.
